Frequently Asked Questions
-
A doula is a trained birth professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. Unlike your midwife or OB, a doula does not perform clinical tasks — we are solely focused on you, your comfort, and your experience.
-
A birth doula supports you during labor and delivery. A postpartum doula supports you after your baby arrives — helping with newborn care, infant feeding, household tasks, emotional processing, and the transition into parenthood. Indigo Way Birth offers both.
-
The earlier the better. Many families reach out in the first or second trimester so we have time to build a relationship before labor begins. That said, if you're further along in your pregnancy, please still reach out — we will always do our best to support you.

Indigo Way Birth offers birth doula support, postpartum doula care, monitrice services, and prenatal education. Birth doula packages include prenatal consultations, continuous labor support, and postpartum follow-up. Postpartum support is available on an hourly basis and can be tailored to your specific needs in the weeks after birth. All services are available to families birthing at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center in New York City.

Brielle comes from a lineage of midwives dating back to the 1800s — this work is in her blood as much as it is in her training.
Formally, she received her birth doula certification in 2016 through Doula Trainings International (DTI) and her HypnoBirthing certification that same year. She completed the full coursework in postpartum care through Innate Postpartum Care, studied alongside a traditional midwife in Peru, and received her certification in Wachakuy traditional midwifery with Cynthia Ingar in the Sacred Valley, Peru. She is currently awaiting certification from her most recent training with Conscious Birth Collective in New York City.

Yes — a doula strengthens your support team, not replaces it. Partners often feel more confident and less overwhelmed when a doula is present because they have guidance and backup. Many partners say hiring a doula was one of the best decisions they made.
